Handprinted
All art and textiles in the shop are printed by hand using relief and screen printing techniques. Which means that there will be lovely variations from one print to the next, even within the same edition. If the print you recieved doesn't look *exactly* like the prints in the photo - that's why. All prints on the shop pass a Q/A process, with misprints sold occasionally at markets. When you buy handprinted art you're buying those variations. While there may be 100 prints of that design, each one is truly unique.
Editions
Printmakers utilizes editions to keep track of the number of prints in the world. Depending on the print there may or may not be an edition number listed on the bottom of your print (by the title and my signature).
Open Editions are either prints without a number, OR with a single number at the bottom. There is no limit to the number of prints that exist in the world and I can make more. Open editions will have a date next to my signature that signfies the year printed. Starting in 2024, I will be numbering all new print desings even in an open edition. For these, you will see a single number (ex. 1) at the bottom of your print by the title. This is simply to keep track of how many I've made!
Closed or Limited Editions will always have numbers at the bottom that look like a fraction. This signifies that there are a limited number of prints that exist and can ever exist in the world. Often, these are Reduction prints - which is a printmaking process that destroys the printmaking plate as you print multiple layers and colors. For example, a print labeled "4/31" would signify that this is print #4 out of a total number of 31 prints.

Thanks!
If you made it this far it's likely that you purchased, or are seriously thing about purchasing, some of my art. As an artist trying to eek out some kind of a living from producing art from my soul, it really means the world to me that you are here! In the age of AI and cookie-cutter art from Big Box Stores, I believe it is all the more important to fill our homes with weird and funky art that was truly made with our own hands. THANK YOU for supporting my art.
